Back to Careers in Offshore Wind.

An offshore wind farm requires a variety of skilled engineering and technical staff from the development and design stages through to its operational stage. Usually wind farms have a dedicated operations and maintenance (O&M) base located in a port near to the wind farm. From this base O&M teams, made up of engineering and technical specialists, monitor the performance of each individual turbine via computers, and can travel out to the wind farm to carry out routine maintenance and, if necessary, emergency repairs.  Provided this project obtains consent, we will expect to employ a team of local technicians and administrative staff.

Some of the job opportunities associated with offshore wind if your background is Engineering or Technical might include:

  • Design draftsman (usually mechanical and electrical engineers)
  • Onsite technician
  • Geologist
  • Developer/Development manager
  • Project engineer (mechanical, civil or electrical)
  • Package manager
  • Applications engineer
  • Production engineer
  • Mathematical analyst
  • Blade prototype technician
  • Asset manager
  • Technical sales manager
  • Geotechnical/Geophysical surveyor
