First Flight Wind’s Education Programme is designed to raise awareness, educate and inform people of all ages about our offshore wind farm project, including young people in full or part time education. We aim to awaken, inspire, involve and empower young people at the early stages of the project as it develops.

Awaken and Inspire. We believe that learning about the development of an offshore wind farm on their back door step provides young people with the opportunity to understand how society responds in a practical way to issues such as climate change and fuel security. We have and are continuing to develop resources for educators to use in the classroom.

Involve and Empower. The First Flight Wind community liaison team visited primary and secondary schools during April and May 2013 to introduce the offshore wind project plans to staff and pupils alike, and listen to their views.  We talked to around 600 pupils in County Down. If you are interested in having us visit your school, please contact our team.

Schools Resources. We have a variety of resources for schools, including printable worksheets, presentations and infographics. We will continue to create content that can be used as part of a renewable energy curriculum for primary and secondary school students.
